| Well, classes are back in session here. Because our school gave us Monday and Tuesday "off," we're working through the weekend to makeup Monday and Tuesday's classes. There was no gently getting back into the swing of things for me this semester- I'm off and running... The good news is that I have great students! Below, are a couple of pictures I took of my freshmen.
Today in class, I was asked (*sigh*) if I have a boyfriend. This time, however, I thought I'd use the question (incidently, one of the most common questions I'm asked- even by strangers) as a teaching point. I began by reminding students that this is considered a personal question in America. And not something to ask a stranger. To drive home the point I asked them, "Is this something you would ask a foreigner that they've just met?" From the back of the room I got my answer- "but this is our second time meeting you!" I had to laugh at that and, since what he said was true, I also had to answer the question. |

| It's Spring Festival in China: a time to celebrate the lunar new year and be with family and friends. And like my students, I've also traveled back home to be with my family and friends in Minnesota. These past few weeks have been a good time for rest and reconnecting with the people I love at home.

gee... it's good to be home! |

| This week, I'm traveling back to Changchun to visit my former students. The photo on the left is how they looked the first day of class last year. The photo on right is a recent one they sent me. Oh... my kids are growing up so quickly!!!
